The ParaPathways Study Guide
Everything you need to pass both ParaPathways subtests, in one guided book. Written like a teacher sitting next to you, not a wall of practice questions.
- ✓ All five full-length practice tests
- ✓ A worked explanation for every question
- ✓ The new classroom-application chapter
- ✓ English and Spanish editions
Why a book when the practice tests are free?
Fair question, and here is the honest answer. The free practice tests are the best way to find your weak spots. They show you where you stand today. What they do not do is teach you the material, walk you through every wrong answer, or prepare you for the classroom-application questions that are new to ParaPathways. That is the book's job.
Think of the free tests as the diagnostic and the book as the lesson plan. Take the diagnostic first. If you are already scoring comfortably, you may not need the book at all, and I will be the first to tell you so. If you find gaps, the book closes them one at a time, in plain language, the way I would explain it to an aide across the table.
What is inside
Ten sections, each one a step on the path from "I just registered" to "I walked out knowing I passed." Every edition (English and Spanish) contains all ten.
- 1
Orientation
What ParaPathways is, the two subtests, 310-350 per-subtest scoring, the calculator policy, 145-minute timing, how it differs from the old ParaPro, and the transition timeline.
- 2
Study plan
A day-by-day four-week plan, plus a two-week crunch version for when your test date is close.
- 3
Reading & Writing lessons (5758)
Main idea, inference, vocabulary in context, grammar and usage, sentence structure, and writing support, each with worked examples.
- 4
Math lessons (5759)
Number sense, algebra, geometry and measurement, and data, taught from the ground up for anyone who is rusty, including when the calculator helps and when it slows you down.
- 5
Classroom-application chapter
The new roughly one-third of the exam: reasoning frameworks and worked classroom scenarios. This is the part most prep skips, and the one that decides borderline scores.
- 6
Test-taking strategy
Pacing across 145 minutes, answer elimination, handling application items, steadying your nerves, and a day-before and day-of checklist.
- 7
Five full-length practice tests
All five tests, organized into the Reading & Writing and Math subtests so you rehearse the real shape of the exam.
- 8
A worked explanation for every question
Not just the answer key. Every question gets a plain-language walkthrough of why the right answer is right and why the tempting wrong ones are wrong.
- 9
Printable quick-reference
Formulas, grammar rules, a glossary, and the passing-score-by-state table, all in a format you can print and keep beside you.
- 10
Closing and retake logistics
Paraeducator to paraeducator: what to do if you fall short on one subtest (you retake just that subtest, not the whole exam) and how to keep your momentum.
Two editions: English and Spanish
The book comes in two complete editions. They are not machine translations of each other. Each one is written to read naturally in its own language, with examples that make sense for the people taking the test in that language. Pick the one you are most comfortable studying in.
English edition
All ten sections, all five tests, every explanation in English.
Edición en español
Las diez secciones, los cinco exámenes y cada explicación en español.
