Computer-Based Testing

The ParaPro Assessment was computer-delivered. ParaPathways (5757), its replacement, is taken on a computer too, at home or at a test center.

Important Note

The ParaPro was available at a community-based test center ($55), or as an at-home remotely proctored option ($85) until it was last administered on August 31, 2026. ParaPathways (5757) replaced it; see the ParaPathways guide to register and check current fees.

Frequently Asked Questions

1
Can I take the ParaPro test from home?

The ParaPro offered an at-home remotely proctored option ($85) and a community-based test center at $55, but it was last administered August 31, 2026. ParaPathways (5757), its ETS replacement, is taken at home or at a test center too, and you still need a computer with a webcam and a quiet, private room. State and district requirements vary, so check what your state needs. See the ParaPathways guide for current fees and availability.

2
How far in advance should I register online?

ETS shows the dates and locations that are open when you register. Register as soon as you know which exam your state or district requires, and ask your district if it has a deadline.

3
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

The ETS Information Bulletin sets a reschedule fee of 50% of the test fee. Read its cancellation and refund rules before you change a booking, because fees are subject to change without notice.

4
Do I need computer skills for the test?

ParaPathways is taken on a computer. Registering gives you a free ETS interactive practice test for each subject you register for, and it is timed like the real test, so use it to get used to the screen.
